Oh, all right, I'm listening to this one too

This is one of the old, old favourites. Just click here.

My favourite line: parachuting acid into diplomatic cocktail parties. Well, really all the lines are my favourite lines. Other forms of boredom advertised as poetry is right up there too.

People like to make jokes about Leonard Cohen being a doomy, Canadian droner, but oh, oh, he wrote lines that still make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I got my first Leonard Cohen album, Songs of Love and Hate, when I was seven. This may explain quite a lot.

  1. I adore Leonard Cohen, and do not allow people to make jokes about him in my presence!

I saw him in NYC last summer and it was a brilliant experience, despite the fact that I and my beloved are Much Too Old for "rock concerts." Also it was in a long jaunt and involved staying up past midnight. . .but I nearly wept as he said, sweetly to the audience, "don't know when we'll be back this way, you know. . ." It was altogether brilliant.
